There's been a fairly obvious clue with Tonks Avatar for the last god knows how many weeks ;-) I've been waiting for someone to pick it up but thus far, it's been missed. You're all fired!

Yeah, but I think most people didn't pick up on it as 206 Sqn was disbanded 4 years ago... :)

I only recently found out via a search after the hint that they're apparently reforming at Boscombe and assuming the role of the Heavy Aircraft Test Squadron.

Hi folks, glad you like the pics.

I don't think such a formation has ever flown before and probably never will again. But really they should repeat it at Fairford - seems a bit unfair for just a few to witness it 'at the fence' (apart from those inside.)

Even when with the VDF, 558 to my knowledge never hooked up with anything apart from the Reds in its farewell season, and that's about the only formation left to do again, only this time 558 would lead the Arrows just like Concorde did in the Queens jubilee (and Heathrow 50th flypast.)

But, two large elegant classic British Aircraft flanking a large British elegant Delta is the best formation I've ever seen..."The best formation in the world....EVER!" (mind you, a Victor thrown in would've been nice.) Don't forget the You tube link for the sound!

By the way, seems odd that Qinetiq (civvies) would adopt an RAF squadron...?

The way I was reading the information, the HATS is being either transferred back to the RAF or they are forming a new HATS squadron in house.

I really don't know the answer to this Chris but it's fair to say (I think) that the pilots involved in the reformation of 206(R) are RAF :) At least one of em is anyway  I'm sure Tonks will let us all know before he has to kill us ;-)

I now sit behind bulletproof glass waiting to be picked off

It'd be good if we could. Not long to sort it though. This one was arranged in the space of a week though.
