Re: new Auster at the pond
Just taken it for a tour of Hong Kong harbour.. quite delightful. Just the job for flying to your favourite bar/restaurant ;-)

Auster Floatplane...
Dave Molyneaux has released his Auster T7 with floats, so I thought I would give it a testing:-

I started with quick circuit at PAMF and here I am on the final approach and passing the "Ghost Tower"....
And the rest of the sequence can be seen by clicking this address:-

Thanks for looking and thank you very much Dave :flying:

Re: new Auster at the pond
I've beached her over the other side, at Marine Services, where they are going to do some work on the floats for me:-

:flying:
Edit...BTW Dave M(oly)...The weather was pretty grim for a time here today and I climbed up through a lot of rubbish, on limited panel to 10,000 feet...On the way up my pitot head iced up and I lost airspeed indications. Panic, panic searching frantically for the switch...NO switch!! Anyway Shift + H thawed it after a while
Do the Austers really have no Pitot Heater switch? :o

No Dave, I'm leaving the engine as is, but I'm getting her ready for a Low-Slow cruise as far as some nice scenery in Washington State :flying:DaveB wrote:Oh dear.. I can see a 'Turbo' kit coming next!![]()

Re: new Auster at the pond
Yes, they have fitted a bag tank in each float at the fore and aft CofG position...only an extra 12.5 gallons per side but it should make it go a reasonable distance. Also, they limited the water rudder steering angle down to 30 degrees, improved the wake pattern and added "Water Sound". I chucked away the Garmin as I prefer my EFB:-DaveB wrote:Ah.. fuel in the floats perhaps. Perhaps not.. she may not leave the water![]()

Modified Wake.

EFB in use on an ADF approach to runway 31 Water.
The empty weight went up a bit but I chucked out the co-pilot (in theory only) as he will be replaced by my mini backpack with DigiCam with bits, Camera with bits, monopod, and Ipod (since everyone seems to listen to music while flying these days!!!)

Hi Peter
It sounds like they did good work and a personal recommendation from you could see their order books fill
Don't forget to leave room for a Thermos and sandwiches in that mini back pack

Gorgeous Stuff Peter
All the austers I ever saw DIDNT have pitot heat
If you want to share the wake and sound mods , I'll stick em up over at the Pond -- she really is a jewel
Ive been working on my Castle Archedale scenery (again) and its the perfect beastie to slow flight around Loch Erne
