Well.. I was always taught that if I couldn't say anything good.. don't say anything at all. I suppose his passing (I gather confirmed) will be received in two ways. His fans, and there were/are zillions of em, will be forever in a state of mourning. For the rest.. complete indifference. Such it is with celebs of this infamy.

That's not stopping them over at the Sim-Outhouse. You can read posts stating things like "it's about time" and "little boys around the world breathe a sigh of relief". It could very well be the first 'may he rest in peace' thread to get locked by the admins. But seriously, it was quite a shock to see the news headlines today announcing his death.DaveB wrote:Well.. Condolences to hs family and friends. Well, he was certainly a strange character. He broke new ground with the 'Thriller' album and if I remember correctly, seven of the tracks on that album went to #1. That album influenced many other artists. 'Thriller' is still the top selling album of all time but in my opinion his career diminished shortly after that when the MJ 'character' became more prominent than the music.
I was always a little angry that he outbid Sir Paul for most of the Beatles catalog.

I do have sympathy for his family and friends, but to be brutally honest I feel more sadness at the passing of Ed McMahon or Farah Fawcett than I do for Michael Jackson.

Re: Michael Jackson....Dead
Like I posted over at the Outhouse I've always been a fan (Thriller and Bad were two of the first albums I ever saved up and bought with my pocket money when I was a nipper) so I'm rather perturbed about the news. One can only hope that he'll find some solace now, he was clearly a very troubled individual and recent years haven't exactly been kind to him.

Looks likes it was a good thing that I wasn't able to get tickets...

One thing that is amazing me is the amount of horrible, genuinely cruel individuals coming out of the woodwork to express their "opinions" on the subject.
Re: Michael Jackson....Dead
... who cares. Didn't know him, hes done nothing musical of note since the 80's. Don't get me wrong, sympathies to his family and friends, but this Media and public out pouring of greif gets right on my t1t5. There are much more worthy souls for this sort of energy, not least those of our forces.
