Just had to Format my hard drive and re-install Windows XP.
Just a question regarding security, I installed my Kaspersky Internet Security Suite but Windows Security Centre keeps telling me that Kaspersky Internet Security reports that it is turned off and that I should turn it on!!
Looking on the main page of Kaspersky it shows that my computer is protected and has updated the Anti-Malware is on -
On-Line Security is on - System Security is on and lastly Content Filtering is on. Does anyone know why Windows would be reporting Anti-Virus is not on? Incidentally have now disabled the warning in Window Security Centre so that it is not monitored.
Any advise greatly appreciated.
Now have to re-install FS9 and all of the add-ons!! :@
Regards
Nigel.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
Not too sure as i havent been in that situation, ive generally only had to rebuild my FS PC once, and i had to reinstall my FSX as the hard drive went tits on me...
Security Center does sometimes seem reluctant to recognise an AV. I've found that often it sorts itself out with a newer update. I assume you've done a reboot. Another thing it might want is a system scan - although the message should just say that.
As for re-installing FS, I now use Peter's advice for backing up for a re-install. I keep a full (uncompressed) copy of the main Flight Simulator folder on an external hard drive. To re-install your full system all you have to do is to install the basic program from disc (which posts the necessary registry entries). Then you simply delete the new Flight simulator folder and replace it with your saved copy (including all your addons). Your saved flights folder and the config file you can do separately if you want to. I've just done it and it works a treat - so easy!
