That was a complete wasted journey, whoever (the council?) does the traffic management for the even should be shot. I was 5 miles north of Lincoln on the A15 at 10:05... by 12:45 I'd just made it through to the other side of the town centre (on the designated route) I asked a policeman how long it seemed to be taking to get from there to the car parks and he said about an hour to an hour and a half, I turned and came home. Absolutely pathetic. They should take a leaf out of Leuchars book and do it properly... gutted. :@

Ben, I have every sympathy for you as one who lives 4 miles from Lincoln and works there the traffic management is absolutely terrible!! :@

We have a Western By-Pass but the Eastern one has been postponed due to lack of finances therefore majority of traffic have to still come through Lincoln. I was just well enough to go very quickly to North Hykeham so the good lady could shop, I ended up having to make a number of detours and still got stuck for some time. :@

When they held the Christmas Market I was supposed to be on duty at 18.00hrs, I left home for the 4 mile drive to work and it took me one hour and fifteen minutes I kid you not!! :brick: :brick: :@ :@

Unfortunately there are no easy or quick ways to Waddington unless of course you aim to get there for no later than 08.30hrs which would mean a very very early start from where you live. :lazy:

There are other routes into Lincoln via the Ring Road at the end of the A15 but unless you know them then it is very difficult. Lincoln has always had traffic problems and one of the main offenders is that of the traffic lights, you have to see it to believe it!! :@

Really sorry that you had a wasted journey Ben and no doubt this experience will probably put you off coming again? :worried:

Regards
Nigel.

Hi Nigel,

Since coming home, it seems the best way would have been to go down the A1 until south of Lincoln and then double back and approach from the south. I'll give it another go next year :)

I think the only better way in is to fly in.. much like Fairford. Thank god I have a motorbike for such trips! ;-)
