FSNav data for the Vanguard?
Chaps,
I've been mucking about with adding data to the FSNav aircraft.ini file for the lovely Vanguard (we have a thing going, you know) but I don't think I've got it right.
Can anyone advise on suitable modifications to the following?
[Vickers VC9 Vanguard]
withoutash=0 ; No idea what this refers to
climbspeed=190 ; I think this is right?
climbfuel=1300 ; Just a guess
climbrate=1200 ; I think this is right?
cruisespeed=258 ; I think this is right?
cruisefuel=860 ; Just a guess
cruisealtitude=17000 ; Works for me
descentspeed=220 ; I think this is right?
descentfuel=300 ; Just a guess
descentrate=1200 ; Works for me
fuelmeasure=0 ; No idea what this refers to
revision=2 ; No idea what this refers to
Cheers
John

Re: FSNav data for the Vanguard?
Hi John
This is the current set I use for the VA flights I do..
[VA Vanguard FL183]
withoutash=1
climbspeed=180
climbfuel=3550
climbrate=1200
cruisespeed=254
cruisefuel=2470
cruisealtitude=18300
descentspeed=125
descentfuel=1150
descentrate=1300
fuelmeasure=2
revision=3
These should get you from A to B without getting your feet wet but don't include pushback/taxiout/hold or drive in at the other end. I've not checked to see how different they are from the ones you're using and wouldn't pin my badge on them to say they're the ultimate 'correct' figures. They're just the ones I use.. plain and simple ;-)

Re: FSNav data for the Vanguard?
There are only a couple there that are not immediately obvious..
Withoutash=1// without airspeed hold.. the number being if an aircraft has it or doesn't
Fuelmeasure=2// not sure myself about this.. could be JetA. It doesn't matter anyway as it's not a function the user selects
Revision=3// I guess that could be the amount of times I've fiddled with the settings. Again, it's of no importance The rest should be self explanatory

Okey dokey ;-)
John..
Hope you find those useful. If you 'hand fly' the old girl, you can expect a slightly different end result but it shouldn't be that far out. I used to fly the old girl at 14-15.5k feet but when I started taking her farther afield, the main direction from the U.K. is East and what's in the way.. the Swiss Alps Safety height over that bit of rock is FL183 so I use that for all VA flights. It ensures I can go anywhere the Vanguard would have gone and not run into anything!

Re: FSNav data for the Vanguard?
I believe Fuelmeasure=x refers to the units used when you set the fuel usage rates for that particular aircraft. Pounds, gallons, etc.DaveB wrote:

Y E S.... :roll:
nigel.. no idea but it could be and may well be correct. It's been many years since I looked at the FSN manual and I don't intend looking at it again anytime soon
