I'm not an expert but for those of you who have seen the 380 in the metal, don't the wings "flap" on landing anyway simply because of their length and the weight of the engines? I'm sure I've seen tv footage of landings during testing and I'm sure the wings bounce like it's trying to take off again. Secondly, in my experience of the A320 and A321 I recall every landing being firm, and given I've flown on the Minibuses of three different airlines I think we can exclude "cultural differences" between pilots (like the way Air France pilots seem to land high, late and heavy based on my experience of them to and from BHX on two occasions...I thought we would end up on Platform 2 at Marston Green Station the second time we landed) so I wonder if there is an Airbus tendency towards firmer landings, or have I just been very unlucky in having had mainly filling threatening landings by Airbuses in the past?

Whatever, the A380 is here and seems to be finding a market and I doubt there were many potential purchasers of the 380 watching the landing at Oshkosh so I suspect it won't dent the sales potential even if The Odd Couple are convinced it dented the wings.

I'm sitting here at my favorite airport (( :D ))speaking to a gentelman who Was in Oshkosh at the time

he spoke personnaly with one of the pilots and was told first hand that the landing at oshkosh wasn't as hard as
the landings the plane was subjected to during testing.

at most it would take a couple of cycles off the life of the airframe....maybe, maybe not

I have just read Trott's defamatory remarks about me. I trust that he will withdraw them
