Old Warden Spitfire...

Post by petermcleland »

I was asked on another site if the Spitfire in my recent slideshow was PL965, a Mark 11...Well it was that aircraft and the questioner kindly pointed me at a really splendid video of the same aircraft being flown by its owner a few years ago at Old Warden...I expect most of you have seen it but just in case you haven't, I have made it available for download from here:-

http://www.petermcleland.com/video/SpitPL965.zip

You can play it in Windows Media Player straight from the WinZip window...I play it in Nero Showtime and it looks and sounds marvellous :flying:

Peter

Thank you for posting --- you had a little group of dispatchers here in Vegas crowded around my computer at work in reverent silence while the video played

Dave G and Leif,

Glad you enjoyed that...I think that sight and sound would stop anybody in their tracks :flying:

What a beautifully made video that is...I reckon it would be a keeper for most people. I'm surprised that such length and quality can be crammed into a mere 20 MBs...I am obviously not using the right compression software

An excellent video Peter. Thanks for sharing it. :) 25 pounds for a Spitfire - that had to be the deal of the century! I tried compressing the video using 7-Zip and WinRAR but only saw a very minor improvement in the compression.

WinZip (original file) - 19.5mb
WinRAR - 19.4mb
7-Zip - 19.3mb

Not quite Brian...I believe the Rhodesian Air Force Spit 22s were sold to a Salisbury scrap dealer for £5 each!

Oh its Mr Teichman spitfire :tab: I had the pleasure of chatting to him on saturday at the eastbourne airshow as he spotted me wearing one of his Hanger 11 T-shirts which I got to shake his hand and again after the show just to say what a great display he did in his P-51 & Hurribomber :prayer:

. Anyway nice video there though I have not seen him display in his spitfire yet I hope this will happen next year :bandit: Anyway looking forward to his display at Bournemouth airshow this coming weekend with his P-40:welldone:

Also he does not have that Moustache now
