FS2004 & Vista

Post by AllanL »

Going through the pain of a new PC - FS2004 initially ran but tended to freeze and would not always change views with the S key on a clean install as a base for a port over. Now - before porting over all the files from the old XP system - it will not run but produces the following report.

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

On top of that I cannot get my antivirus to re-install but that's another tale.....

Any ideas about the FS issue?

Is your anti virus suitable for Vista?

Running FS2004 on Vista without problems, but as I've said before, its easier if its installed on a partion or drive that isn't your boot drive.

[EDIT] Just did a quick BING and there are a few hits that relate to FS addons, such as FSinn. So doesn't look like its 2004 itself. Always best with a new opperating system to build things up slowly. Start with plan old FS2004, then add in you addon aircraft, then scenery and do all the fancy stuff at the end, one at a time to identify which is causing the problem. :agree:

I had been getting the antivirus via the ISP, but now have Kaspersky on order with Avira holding the fort - hopefully - until it arrives.

As for FS2004, well a big boy here said that was the way to do it!

I've now gone back to a vanilla fs9.0 and am building it up a plane/scenery at a time. I may be some time.

Now off to struggle with Windows Easy Transfer, which is being anything but at the XP end of the swap, to try and get SWMBOs emails transferred between Outlook Express and Windows Mail. Peace will only reign when that and her ebay are up and running. Some folk have no sense of proportion. :worried:

lol... Windows mail is dead mate... save yourself the time, the current one is live mail and must be downloaded... its superb!

I must admit, I swapped from Trend to Kaspersky earlyier in the year and saved myself £20... but, to be honest with you, I hate it. it trys to block everything under the sun, even on the medium settings, and prompts everytime I as much as sneeze. To be fair, I haven't had any viruses... but its the most anoying piece of software I've ever paid money for... worse (for me) is that the Windows 7 version is even worse, So I'll be going back to Trend 8)
