Well today, I was repainting the garden shed and I heard a thunderous roar of an approaching aircraft......just in time to see a Phantom jet....for about 3 seconds.
Were my eyes deceiving me......then about 10 minutes later....I heard it approaching again only this time I could see it very clearly all over grey paint and trailing black smoke as it powered over the town in a banked angle before making it's way to Portland area....sadly not low enough to see any markings....that was the last I saw of it.
It certainly made my day Garry....all we get here is mostly Merlin helicopters and the odd Lynx. Fixed wing is more often the FRADU Falcons...in ones and twos....although I did spot a Nimrod at about 5000 ft early in the Summer.
Here is one at Ellington Field in Texas in SEA camo that I got to climb all over, however I think the Luftwaffe birds are much more attractive in gray warpaint.
Glad to know they are still in service!
