Ryanair install Kim Jong-il as Role Model Leader

Post by AllanL »

Well they might as well, I've just caught up on the latest scam to deter passengers from aviation's answer to North Korea.
Ryanair has issued a reminder to all passengers that, from Thursday 1 October 2009, a driver’s licence will no longer be a valid form of identification.

Passengers will be required to bring their passport or a government issued National Identity Card (issued solely for identification) to the airport.

Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said: “Ryanair passengers must ensure that they have a valid form of identification to travel on Ryanair flights. Ryanair has moved to simplify our identification policy to avoid passenger confusion and from 1st October all Ryanair passengers must hold a valid passport or a valid National Identity Card issued by the government of a European Economic Area (EEA) country.

“Passengers arriving at an airport with a driver’s licence or any other forms of non-valid identification will be unable to travel on Ryanair flights.”
I particularly like the "moved to simplify our policy to avoid confusion" bit. Worthy of our own Dear Leader GB that one.

Given that many young people don't have passports until they are older this is a nonsense.

Unfortunately it would put people out of work but I'd love
to see this outfit and its clown of an owner go down the pan

There is no single owner ; it's a quoted company . It will be interesting to see how long this business model will survive, and whether Ryanair is sufficiently flexible to survive in the real world as opposed to the very peculiar artificial one which has existed for the past decade or so

May I ask who will pay out further expense of purchasing a passport or National ID Card just for the priviledge to fly internal routes within the UK with Ryanair, this is one sure fire way of ridding themselves of regular commuters of their airline.

Moi aussi! I have moved to 'simplify my policy to avoid confusion', and switched to Aer Lingus for trips to Dublin - which got me a seat next to Bob Geldof earlier this month!!!
