just did a very quick check as I'm going to have to go... Out of Sydenham (EGAC) in FSX. Default T2 config (so probably over weight, didn't check.)From the end of 04, breaks on, slats out and flaps out 2 clicks. 3 of trim. Fully forward on the throttles (101%)with top temp engaged, rotated about 135knts and cleared the end of the runway... not by much though. Default weather and daytime. Once the airspeed was up at 150 + throttle back to 97%

I'm just finding it can be slow to gain speed with a good climb rate on this and the 1-11, nothing like what the panel manuals say.

They fly pretty much on the numbers at normal runway length... Let us know your settings and airport and what speed etc your trying to achieve and we can see if its the same. Peter McC did a huge amount of testing the trident and the numbers we used where straight from his notes when he flew them for real, so sounds like something might be wrong somewhere.

Yeah, I'm not doubting anyone, just trying to work out what's what.

Do alot of flying out of Filton, left and right tanks full, centre empty. Say with the Trident, which I've been flying tonight, I'll have top temps on, use some water injection maybe, click the EPR, nose at 2.5 pos trim, flaps 23 degrees, chuck the throttles full forward as you say. Rotate at approx 141 with said fuel and the 19,000lbs payload. I'll get up, start to climb at about 2000ft/m, but struggle to get past 180knts, then the speed will drop, so I'll retract flaps early to minimise drag, reduce climb rate to gain speed then regain climb rate.

The default is the one that loads before I start making choices, yes.

I dunno if this is just an FSX thing. I've just taken a T2 out of LHR loaded the same as your flight and was at 250kias before 2500ft without any trouble at all. Scared me as I don't usually see 250kts until 7500 higher on VA flights Flaps should have been up at 180 but I didn't hit the button hard enough and they were still out at 220kts (I noticed when I went to retract the slats) I never use the top temp switch in the VC because I never use the VC so rely on keeping the needles mid yellow off the throttles which is easy to do Might the top temp switch be restricting your pwr a little?? I honestly don't know.. I don't even know where it is (that is.. I couldn't point directly to it without looking first.. I know roughly where it is from memory) Certainly, in FS9.. you would only struggle to maintain an initial climb rate speed of 180kias if you were going near vertical.

Make sure you do a 'visual' check outside to see you haven't got the airbrakes on. I've known this happen before.

This one has me stumped too, because several months back, like you (but with the 1-11 which also has similar issues) I'd be breaking 250kts too before FL100! Found it very fast and agile before.

Hi,

Try using the Peter Mclelland tutorial that is included with the package to hone your technique to flying the Trident. Aim for a nose up attitude at take-off rather than a fpm. Once you have the speed you will get the fpm, trying to get the fpm first might put you behind the drag curve and you won't get the speed.

Grab the Trident Autoland Tutorial from here. I have printed out the last two pages (pages 9 & 10) which gives you the summary and makes for a handy 'aide memoir' for when flying the Trident.
