I for one won't be interested in anything that may come from them in the future. However, the Aerosoft project seems to be gaining more momentum so I may get myself another PC in 2012!

Ok guys, so some of you don't like FSX, but some do and its the same team who brought you FS2004. None of us outside MS / ACES will know what design constraints where put on the ACES guys when developing FSX, so its worth giving them support. Besides I'd rather see more flight simulators than less.

I don't think you can slag off a development team because a section of the comunity don't like their last product... especially when most of that same section of the comunity are still using their earlier product.

No it was not the same team that made FS9...They spent most of their time breaking all the features that the previous teams had created and completely wrecked the UI in their re-write. I personally would not be interested in any new product from them and I'm sure that Mathijs will distance himself from them in the development of the Aerosoft FS.

It was I'm affraid Peter. Same team, but for all we know working to a different design breif (remember a big part of the design breif was linked to the commercial simulation environment that MS released (can't remember the name of it now)). The ACE's team on Flight simulator have been largely the same since FS2000.

I've always suspected that part of the brief was to optimise the new Sim to work with Vista - maybe seemed a good idea at the time, but we all know what an abomination that turned out to be!!

Personally, my new PC (in build) will run FS9 and Windows 7 - seems the best compromise to me.

When I met them a couple of years ago now, most of the ACEs team I met were relatively new to the product - I'm guessing the team had grown a lot.
ESP was announced at that conference and Train Sim 2 was being discussed a year before that so they did have a lot on their plates.
Adrian Woods had been there for a while and apparently is still with MS so maybe he's doing the "windows live FS"

Cascade have still not announced anything, so everything is still speculation.
Rick Selby is a mad keen rail fan and was involved with the original MS Train Sim in 2001, so perhaps it will not be a new flight sim at all!
