Many, many thanks to those who have helped me in this query.
After trying both sets of VFR Photographic now....the old 4 volume set and the new version 2 that is now 3 volumes and is on the GenX DVD, I can report that they are exactly the same.
The 4 volume set is flat UNTIL the addon VFR Terrain is installed on top.
The 3 volume set cannot use VFR Terrain but there is no need as they have included the Mesh in the 3 volume....something I did not realise until I compared the 2 installations.
The reason why I thought it was not right was because after using FSX at Gloucestershire...the increased mesh complexity had spoiled me and as a consequence when looking at the same area in FS2004 it looked rather primitive but then so it is. This is due to the reduced mesh complexity.....
The downside of the 4 volume set is that the Channel Islands have straight outlined coasts (only after VFR Terrain was installed)
The downside of the 3 volume set is that I cannot see how the favoured addon trees etc from vfraddon team can be installed as they are installed into relevant sections of the 4 volumes.....
So there we have it...the pro's and con's of both installations.....only took the weekend but I needed to know.
Thanks once again to all for the valied the help on this thread and privately.
Kind regards
Bridon Bear
EDIT:
Currently leaving the 4 vol set on....just found my coastline 'patch' that has put the Channel Islands back to the correct outlines.
As DaveB said...this patch with VFR Terrain may well cause other scenery corruptions but as yet not noticed them so far....any idea where the problem areas are to be found Dave?
