Are these standard Police issue?? My cousin is an inspector in Devon and Cornwall and he has one too My dad has a Fabia but we won't go there

Depends on the force Dave. Many forces do operate them. I think they look great liveried up.

I have seen them all over the place in various parts of the country.

slightly off subject, my main car is a Scenic [got kids to ferry around], but I just bought a second car, a 1994 Volvo 850 T5, for £400, what a bargain. 225 BHP, man does it shift!

Cheers for that Ian. Thats actually the old vectra, but useful info. Just driven a 1.8 and while better than I expected, I cant help but feel its a little sluggish at low revs.

Go for a Skoda Ben.. you know it makes sense I might end up with my dad's one day (fabia aka VW Polo in different clothes) and having driven it once.. it aint arf bad

I havent ruled the octavia out, just not a great selection of them up here.the only one i'd be interested in would be the RS. Mum has a Fabia that I use when i'm back in Belfast and its a great wee car.

Oh God, now you've got me thinking about upgrading my second car from an '88 740. 225 BHP would certainly help tow things a bit quicker....

Hi Ben. The reliability statistics for the 04-06 Vectra show as a bit worse than the 02-04

I must admit to being generally impressed with Vauxhalls, my last car was a Corsa TD 1.5, one of the second batch into the country after launch which despite being a bit agricultural on the spec sheet (LS standing for Less in this case) managed to do 205,000 miles on original engine, half the original exahust, three of the original four wheels (I had one come off whilst driving along the A14 which was entertaining, being overtaken by your rear offside wheel) and original shocks which is going some, and am currently driving a 1.8 51 reg Vectra B which I picked up fourth hand at trade price and which despite having more miles on it than the Space Shuttle is going fine. My only gripe about Vauxhall is their spare parts (new) tend to cost German prices, and there are sometimes silly niggling things which go wrong - like the old model Corsa having an alternator combined with brake servo so when the alternator goes, you have to buy a brake servo with it - and the alternator was situated on the left hand side, unshielded, which in the UK is of course the puddle side of the road so got a good soaking every time it raines, and on my current Vectra the Kelsey Hayes ABS unit being a lemon flavoured piece of kit which is prone to sensor failure even when the unit is still working but which can't be fixed - and would cost nearly £700 new. However, on the whole I still find them reasonably good.

Now Peugeot, don't get me started on them...
