Cycling: Around my fair city

Post by cjw50310 »

Took advantage of a very atypical November day (topped out around 70F), fit in a quick ride this afternoon. Here are a few snaps taken around town:

A couple of the our state capitol building:

A memorial for the Iowans who served through the end of the Civil War:

A couple looking toward downtown Des Moines, from the capitol:

My trusty mount, and the bridges over the Des Moines River:

Downtown from the shore of an abandoned quarry, turned into park:

A couple of the Raccoon River valley:

Thanks for looking,
Chris

I am loving the fact many of the forum members are active cyclists.

Gorgeous day for it Chris

The whole damn country was so pleasent today -- the only IFR weather we could find was in the top left hand corner.

More of the same Sunday as well :)

I think I know where I may come for my next recurrent ride.

Wonderful, Chris. Thank you so much for posting these. I really enjoy seeing where people live and what they do outside of flight simming. I've never been to Iowa so I had no preconception of what Des Moines might be like. It looks like a lovely place to live, clean, pleasant and big skies. I like the look of the river valley - is it a public park? And that building is just amazing!

One concern I have is that there are no people *-) Is that normal or did they find somewhere better to go and didn't tell you?

Oh thanks, old bean :D Inspired by Del's of course

I quite miss the old rascal at this time of year so I thought I'd give him an airing for a week or so. It could have been worse - I could have picked one of Mum with her sergeant's stripes  Mr Hitler didn't stand much chance against that!

Bless 'em all. Where the hell would we be without them?

Ian
