Good naming opportunity here. British South American Airways. :D Seeing as Iberia will be probably be taking over BA's routes to that area.

The big losers will be Heathrow and GB PLC. No third runway needed as intercontinental transfer traffic should now go via Madrid where there's plenty of cheaper capacity. I read yesterday that Bmi's jewel in the crown - its LHR slots - is now virtually worthless. Nobody wants them. Who would have thought that a couple of years back!

A great coup for politicians and environmentalist campaigners. With Heathrow slipping down the ranks of international airports, London and GB will follow. Third World - here we come!
