More news in regard to the new carrier(s)
The latest story is that we may sell one of them to the Indian Navy!

Surely they should just sell them HMS Invincible which is currently laid-up in the dockyard?
Just a thought
Kind regards
John

I think you'd be hard pushed to give Invincible away for free, it's certainly not what the Indians want as they plan to operate MiG-29s.
Incidentally this and the RAF cuts are all part of the annual build up to the year's budget in which lists of potential cuts are drawn up as political manoeuvring before hand. Of course there's generally the mistaken assumption that the people making the cuts have an actual clue about defence, hence the RN losing its SSKs in the early '90s as only an idiot would get rid of that capability....

Yeah suppose so. She's been a spares ship for a long time now and she's no spring chicken.

Hi Folks
At a guess,
usual Guardian/Observer crossed wires.
ISTR similarly reported firm interest in late 80s re: Invincible.
India is already building 2 new 40,000 tonne STOBAR aircraft carrriers, (potentially 3 vessels),
plus awaiting delivery of the Gorshkov/Vikramaditya conversion.

By the looks of it we'd be better off buying carriers from the Indians...
