HS-748
Hello fellow lovers of classic British aircraft.
This is my first post here, so forgive me if I transgress any unwritten rules.
I fly for an active VA on a popular site and eventually convinced my VA to pay virtual bucks to add an HS-748 to the inventory because I love to fly Rick Piper's HS-748 "Draggie". The mostly young guys in the VA eventually asked why I flew the aircraft so much, so I posted a combination aircraft review / how-to-fly guide on the VA website. See http://www.qantasvirtual.info/#/forum/4535954237
I hope you don't mind, but I directed them to your site here to download the HS-748 if they feel the need for seat of the pants flying and some decent British turboprop whine.
Any clues about the external lighting/left cockpit coaming problem with the HS-748 in FSX?

Hi Oldoak and welcome
The link works for me
On behalf of the team, tks very much for you kind words
A lot was put into that old lady but the amount of satisfaction many get from flying her is reward in itself.
Not sure about the FSX problem you're seeing as I'm still a dinosaur with FS9
Many here DO fly her in FSX though so hopefully, you'll get the reply you're after soon

Also, if anyone sees I have handed out duff gen to my VA mates, please let me know and I will amend the post or link to a better answer here.
Cheers,

Welcome to CBFS OldOak
Nice scenery there - is that the Voz stuff for fsx??
Looks great even if the paintscheme for the Budgie is a little pedestrian.

Hi Oldoak,
I fly the "Budgie" as it was known to us Poms a lot as well.
A couple of points about your good review:
It is possible to slave the auto pilot to a GPS flight plan by switching from Nav1 to Nav2 with the switch at the top left of the radio panel. Like you not something I feel the need to do often.
Using the Glide function on the auto pilot will get the plane to follow an ILS glide path set on the Nav1 radio. You have to set the throttles manually to get the correct speed and it WON'T auto land so disconnect the auto pilot at about 100ft (click z) and land manually.
The water methanol is needed at high rather than low ambient temperatures when the fuel trimmers have to be turned right down. I'd have thought this would be important in the GABA during summer.
After this see if you can get the VA to try Rick's Viscounts or Dave Maltby's wonderful jets especially the 1-11 and Trident.
Jon
PS I've got the coaming transparency issue in the FSX VC as well. I usually fly the Budgie with the 2D panel though so don't notice it. As Rick is busy with newer stuff I doubt that this will be addressed.
One other specific to FSX problem is that the gauge to set the cabin pressure is missing in the 2D panel and has to be set in the vc. It's on the right of the cockpit next to the co pilot and needs a lot of scrolling and zooming to see it properly. Luckily nothing bad happens if it's not set properly.

FInally got around to reading it.....very nice
One little comment is where you seem almost surprised the RAAF livery corresponded to a real aircraft..........we never do fakes here
