Hi Robin
Yes I seen that and even linked it here before...trouble is it's all lost to me because not knowing what they sound like I don't know if it's a good recording or even dubbed.
I guess you are familiar with them??
Anyway.....please keep looking

Well I DO know what Four Proteus sound like - and thats just laughable sorry mate.
There was another that we found recently -- that for reasons best known to Pathe News they had dubbed
Dart sounds onto footage of a Britannia taking off - Im not sure WHY filmakers in the 50s and 60s couldnt
leave Proteus sound alone -- prehaps because it was so damn quiet that it didnt sound impressive enough.
Sorry Robin dont give up looking somewhere out there is a sound bite of a Britannia in all its glory.
Leif

Robin you did a good thing!!
At the same source you found the Brit are two excellent sound sets of a 44 (Tyne) starting and running
I had forgotten how much different it sounded to the Vanguard -- there is far more prop sound - BUT there
is that odd high pitch whine like the Vanguard from the inner engines.

Garry if you havnt heard them--- http://www.airlinetv.net/view_video.php ... &category=

HI leif
Funny you shoul mentione the Brit dubbed with art as there are many clips of Viscounts souneing like DC 6's or similar.
The Vanguard had engine riven compressers on the inners giving the whine
Now.... must listen to that clip

What a super bit of Vid - and you actually get to see Hawker himself
Bet that was a cold bit of filming taking off from Bronsons Creek.
The one thing I did notice Garry - on this one you can hear the fan noise very clearly.
