Once upon a time the gents from FLETC at Glynco flew Mohawks (yes they were armed) Hueys and several rather twee Broncos but that was thirty years ago when the media hadn't noticed them.
Oh before you go google it - Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Brunswick Georgia -- Its where the DEA pilots learnt their trade.
They flew better than the runners -- putting a Citation behind a twin cessna at very low level at night without lights is an art.
Oh yes
The drug smuggling pilots seemed pretty good, several hours of lights out night flying at low level over the sea can be quite sporty...
Ummm No downright lethal -- I have heard several of the FLETC legends -- including a gent who tried to take a Cessna 404 out of a Columbia field one night slightly overloaded -- he folded a main gear leg
and the nice Columbian gents who had recently loaded his aircraft dug a large hole with a front loader and put the aircraft and him in it.....still alive!!
there are alot wrecks on the bottom of the Caribe and the Gulf complete with pilots that DIDN'T make it.
