Love it! Especially this bit ...
And he advised others not to try the same thing.
Everybody else knows that already
In a similar, but yuckier, vein, we've had a bad weekend for fatalities at our small depot. Two in four days involving our crews. Three drivers are off recovering (one because he came across body parts when walking down the track to relieve the one involved in the incident).
But my reason for telling this is the dark humour that comes from this stuff. One of the drivers is a typical, blunt Aussie who considers all Poms wimps and whingers and won't tolerate any sign of weakness. He was uncharacteristically subdued after hitting a man who was lying on the rail in the dark. It seems his concern was for any family that the man had left behind. He asked the police whether the man had left a wife and kids. The policeman said no but he had a partner. After that the driver cheered up no end and told us that he was much happier having rid the world of a depressed homosexual and couldn't wait to get back out and work on the rest!
Sorry if anybody's offended by homophobic, politically incorrect humour. But I'm just relating exactly what he said and if you're not involved (and are not a depressed homosexual) then you might find it as amusing as I do. Black humour is a huge part of British (and Aussie) life whether one likes it or not.
