New 3D gadget from Nvidia

I saw this on my BT Yahoo opening page today listing the top ten gadgets:

10. Nvidia 3D Vision Kit

2009 has been a breakthrough year for 3D, with most manufacturers showing off plans for new 3D TV sets, but most won't arrive on the high street until next year at the earliest.

If you have a PC, though, you can get a 3D gaming experience today. This kit includes the necessary glasses, transmitter and software, works with most recent Nvidia graphics cards and is far cheaper than a new 3D display.

Sounds interesting.but...I can just imagine sitting there with the 3D glasses and Track IR hat

I had a E3D set some years ago and found them poor.. so much so, they were returned and my money refunded. Support from E3D was good but they pointed out on a number of occassions that the technology was in it's early days and this boiled down to me being a paying beta tester. Don't get me wrong.. 3D modelled bits (the VC for example) were pretty cool but overall, I found them not fit for use. I was using Nvidia drivers back then so what's on offer now may well be a distant relation.

Also.. I felt a right prat sitting there with a pair of Clark Kent glasses on

You could do specials where the parents come and have a bar meal and booze up while the kids sit and watch the funny man with the hat and glasses

It might be Friday but it's too late now. E3D glasses returned to the U.S. and TrackIR4 donated to Mr Piper. Anyway.. they don't work while you're having a nap.. something I seem to be doing quite a lot these days
