Currently have 22in LG widescreen which is magic with max resolution of 1680/1050. Wondering just how much
of a difference going to a 22 or 23in HD 1920/1080 monitor would make as prices are so damn cheap right now.
Opinions welcomed.

Re: New Monitor info
I have a cracking Samsung 22" at 1680X1050 before that I had a dissapointing Acer at 1920X1080 I think to run at the higher res you will need a suitable video card as it does get noticeable at the higher res. To be honest I find the Samsung a better picture despite being lower res.

Hi Techy
My card is XFX 8800GTS 512 G92Engine as in my signature, yes my monitor has hdmi, I used to have it hooked up to my lcd tv. Don't get me wrong
I love this monitor but have been thinking on upgrading if there would be a noticeably difference.

Re: New Monitor info
The extra pixels aren't going to make a huge difference unless you're into creating your own customized 2D panels and you need to squeeze in another column of gauges. You'll only notice a real difference in picture quality if your new monitor has a substantially higher Dynamic Contrast Ratio compared to your old one. eg a new Samsung will have 50,000:1 wheras a cheapish monitor of a couple of years ago would struggle to get 10,000:1. You'd certainly notice the difference if you upgraded from 10000 to 50000. If your current monitor is already 30000:1 the going to 50000:1 might not be that noticable. Depends on how much ambient light you tend to operate in!Seaking wrote:Hi Techy

Re: New Monitor info
Thanks JIm, great info. I just checked and my now two year old LG 227WTG contrast ration is only 10000-1 so looks like if I decided to upgrade
to one with much higher CR I would indeed see a diff.
