Roll/Rotor cloud

I found this picture of what is described as a roll cloud ( which I think is what we in Europe call rotor) . Not something to fly through !

I seem to remember such a thing being called a Line Squall...I know that on a gliding field if a small one of those would hove into sight we would have to lie down under the wings of the gliders and clutch onto the wing spars to try to prevent that thing flipping the gliders over

This evil-looking thing came roaring through early one morning in June 2009 - a ridiculous weather event for the time of day and the season. Normally by June you are starting to wonder when you last saw a cloud, and you don't expect any rain until the start of Spring, some three months away. You can see the rotor just ahead of the main wall. That 'outrider' was about 8km away, and from where I was standing, the angle between the tip of my tree (right centre) and the next power pole to the right was around 30 degrees; from that my rusty old trig says it was moving about 48km/h , or 30mph. (the avi mentioned below went for 60secs)
