Re: HS748 Taxispeed
I'll stick a brief comment here about real life taxiing with turboprops, at least ones I'm familar with. I recognise not everyone has the gear to simulate real life completely, including myself. As mentioned previously you generally advance throttles till you start moving, then retard. Don't use brakes much in real life. Older acft brakes heat up quickly and you can even blow the wheel fuse plugs (on some acft) which makes for a very bad day. Generally between using reverse and low ground pitch angle you can control speed without brakes. On real hot days you can overheat engine oil if you use to much reverse so that must be monitored also. Many turprops have a low ground speed idle position like the C-130 and you generally taxi with engines 2-3 in LSGI and outboards at normal ground idle. In other turboprops we taxied with outboards only and started inboards just prior to lineup. We used outboards because that also gave us steering control with reverse pitch available. In northern Alaska and Canada remote airfield runways are made using water trucks on tundra so you're always landing on ice. The good news is that at -40 degrees and colder on the North Slope ice is very dry and has excellent traction.

That would explain it, I just copied the a/c folder from FS9. What are the texture names?Rick Piper wrote:looks like you don't have the gear textures etc (in FS9 they sit in the FS9/textures folder to save space)

Hi George
there are about 10 or 20 of the beggers
I would just use the FSX installer into a folder on your desktop and grab the ready sorted texture folders
(I'm guessing you think self installers are the devil's droppings)
texture.common and all the others stripped and thumbnailed
also fixed most of the shiny VC panel problems in this version
Regards

Re: HS748 Taxispeed
Hi George
I do self installers because the vast majority don't read the instructions
which means 1000's of e mails
(i got 1400+ when i released the 748 "why does it not show!" in 3 parts marked 1 of 3 etc as FS.com changed all the filenames to suit them)
I hate self installers but i guarantee mine work properly and purely place all the parts in the correct place and find the FSX install directory automatically via the registry entry.
it just makes it easier for most people

Re: HS748 Taxispeed
I tried FS and Avsim. Couldn't find it on FS and the Avsim version has still not been recovered.

Thanks for the info on your Taxiing experience! The nearest I've ever come to anything like that is "Ice Road Truckers" on the TV.... or my car park this morning!
