Guys, this is a typical Daily Mail scare story that will, as ever, likely come to nothing. It's about this time every year that they publish one of these (if I recall correctly, the for the last two years they have had positive proof that the Red Arrows were being disbanded) and they have yet to be proven right. In my personal opinion this country would be rather better served if we could disband the Daily Mail as part of the defence cuts!!

Re: BOB flight
Every year about this time when MoD realises they don't have enough money, all three services draw up a list of proposed cuts, and every year the Reds appear on it as do a number of other things and the Daily Mail gets all hormonal about it.
The BoB Flight costs essentially nothing, in fact I think it's absorbed by Coningsby's budget the numbers are so small in the scheme of things. Meanwhile the biggest threat to the Reds is the impending retirement of the Hawk T1.

Re: BOB flight
IS the BoB still voluntary run and flown by crew in their own time??

Re: BOB flight
Absolutely disgusting however, as SkippyBing wrote, it seems to be an annual exercise by the Ministry of Defence, they will find the cutbacks but feel these will be RAF Stations more than anything else.

The OC (Pilot), admin and engineering staff are full time, some reservists. The other aircrew do alongside their everyday jobs.Garry Russell wrote:IS the BoB still voluntary run and flown by crew in their own time??

Re: BOB flight
This is the Daily Mail we're talking about. Keep that in mind before you get outraged.
