Thanks for all the responses, and Trev... thanks for that freeware list. I've ordered Southern England and South Wales, and I'll plonk VFR London on top of that. :)

Paul, as others have said, it's pretty much must have for FSX. One thing though - don't turn autogen off, this actually makes performance worse; wierd I know but this is FSX after all! For details of how autogen affects FSX performance see http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_p ... ?TID=29041

Regards,
Chris

Chris, thanks very much for that, I shall definitely pay heed.

Southern England and South Wales arrived through the letter box this morning. Under 48 hours since I ordered it, so well done SimMarket!

Ah, thats better !! From the Essex Outback to England's green and pleasant land.

Must look into North Weald however, which has the Horizon runway and the default one side by side. No doubt there is a way to rectify that.

VFR London is on its way from Aerosoft so expect more screenies of The Smoke, me ol' cock sparras !

I haven't and I'm really cheesed off that the Western Isles is only GenX compatible

On the advice of CiX VFR club members, I bought JF's Real Scenery series - at the time it cost £100.

I also have the other ScotFlight sceneries and fly them all the time in Air Hauler - so I'm not happy that the Western Isles is GenX only.

I can't afford to throw away my JF series and buy the GenX ones - that's loadsa money out the window.

So ScotFlight/Visual Flight have now lost me (and doubtless others) as a customer.

To be fair JD, its not their fault you bought the JustFlight product. The Horizon products are great, so I don't see how you can blame them for you choosing an alternative from a different supplier.

Agree that the Scotflight stuff is excellent though :welldone:

Does GenX go that far up anyway?? *-) VFRPhoto stopped at Scotland which was always a bone of contention. S'pose I'd better pop on up and have a look :)

Dunno about turning Autogen off either as GenX sit's on top of any tree or shrub in the land so whether it's on or off.. you won't notice it unless you populate the areas concerned with the old VFRPhoto/GenX trees. V2 certainly hasn't given me any trees *-)

EDIT..
Unless I don't have a GenX2 area.. having just looked at Barra, I might have been off Algeria rather than the Western Isles. As real as it gets and then some

I don't have any autogen trees either. Could certainly do with it.

Yes, GenX only goes up to the English border. ;)

The 'English' border?? Yes indeed.. that's why its VFR England and Wales ;) Unless Horizon are going to unleash a VFR Scotland on us.. would JD still be able to use the JustJoking scenery?? Saying the Western Isles is only compatible with GenX when GenX doesn't go there only IN it's own area.. as long as it's higher than what he already has, I'd have thought it would be ok *-)
