Hi Folks

Just to clarify some obviously persisting misconceptions -

GenerationX -
GenerationX is not area specific,
it's just a branding for FSX version products.

The Western Isles -
The product title is VFR Generation X: V4 - Scotland: The Western Isles

The Western Isles product is just a photoscenery.

There is no clash whatsoever
between the The Western Isles product
and Horizon's other GenX products,
nor with JustFlight's VFR Real Scenery.

There is no need to throw away your JustFlight VFR Real Scenery,
other than to replace it with a better quality,
and more realistic product, (i.e. one with correctly placed airfields).

Only major issue with GenX, (not sure if affects WI),
is their implementation of the ground-hugging waterpoly,
which masks out the Map and GPS data displays.

VFR London X -
It's not Aerosoft's London VFR for FSX.

VFR London X is absoloutely F/A to do with Aerosoft,
Aerosoft's only involvement is reselling downloads and the disk version.

VFR London X was developed by Carl Edwards, (plus others),
and produced by Horizon.

Visual Flight -
Is nothing to do with GenerationX or Horizon.
Visual Flight is/was the developer of the
VFR Photographic Scenery, VFR Terrain, and other products for FS2002/2004.

ScotFlight -
Scottish scenery content created by Iain Gallacher and Ian Murray,
originally created in the FS dark ages,
and published by Visual Flight.
Ben Watson wrote:the Scotflight stuff is excellent though
Has Graham, (filonian), retired ?

PS
Scotflight's coastline is an enormous improvement on FSX's default,
so it's definitely worth it for that alone.

Hi all

Not trying to push our product but wishing to answer some unfair criticism earlier in this topic.

There is only one product offering photographic scenery for Scotland's Western Isles at the moment and we are making Scotflight fully compatible with this product for users who are running both products. Hopefully by the end of this week existing ScotflightFSXVol2 users will get a free update making our product fully compatible. They will get added features and they will get customised Caledonian MacBrayne ferries sailing to all the ferry ports in the Western Isles.
We also now offer a mini product covering only the Western Isles area, specifically for use with the Horizon product.

If another product comes along offering photo scenery for Scotland then we would certainly be looking at compatibilty with it also.

Cheers Iain,

I'll be looking forward to this one. My Ayrshire coast is already full of P&O ferries and the HSS going back and forward to NI and I've added a few of the Navy's Glasgow born ships going from the Clyde down to Pompey, a few CalMac further up will be a nice touch. You can never have too many ships

Hi all

Back again!

Realised I should have also clarified in my previous posting that existing users of ScotflightFSXVol2, who are not going down the road of purchasing the photo stuff, will also get a free update adding all the extra features introduced in the Horizon compatible versions, including the customised Calmac ferries.
Don't want anyone feeling they are being left out ;)

Cheers Iain ;)

Thinking back.. I reckon I did get email notification of the Scotflight v2.. read it.. and forgot about it as the email address you have I only use for online transactions 8) I see that v1 users can get v2 at a discount so I'll nip up and get some of that ;) The Western Isles does look very tempting.. moreso that that region in FSX (default) is diabolical.. worse even than the default mainland and that's going some :wall:

Thanks for the detailed replies from those in the know  I was hoping you were around on this forum.

It's a bit early, mind, and I probably read it all too fast (I'm getting old rather quickly :| ), but I just realised myself that the VFR photo sceneries don't extend that far - though, as I think is mentioned, Horizon is releasing something iirc.

Whatever, as long as what Visual Flight or Scotflight release is compatible with my set-up, I'll be buying it, I reckon.

I just got the impression from their website, and AVSim, that they were going down a particular road that led them away from my flight sim (and my wallet! ;) ).

As for Scotflight v2.0 - I got an e-mail informing me of it's arrival, as well as seeing it on the AVSim news/homepage. It also covers some of the W. Isles aerodromes.

Anyway, I'm certainly enjoying the current version of ScotFlight H&I in Air Hauler - operating out of Wick and covering the H&I area with my CS C-130, PAD Dornier 228, AS Beaver and PMDG JetStream! :)

JD

PS - no, I'm not shamelessly plugging our product - not intentionally, anyway! Slopey (the developer) enjoys the ScotFlight area, too!

Hi John

I might a got the wrong end of the stick, but if you are suggesting Scotflight going down a particular road then that is just not the case.
Unfortunately Avsim did not print my news release in full the first time round. It has now been amended. We are committed to giving customers the same level of content whether they have moved to using photographic scenery or not. All the features of our recent photo compatible release are being made available to existing users of our ScotflightFSXVol2 as a free upgrade. That should be available in the coming days.
