VC10 to end Pax carrying?

Post by Chris558 »

I can't see another post with this info, so here you go.....

http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... -vc10.html

Time will tell if this is for good. It would make sense, however sad as the Ten must be hideously expensive to operate just for A/T.

Call me a bit behind the times (thick) but I honestly did not think that the VC10s' were still used in a passenger carrying capacity, I thought they were all solely used in the Tanker role........ :$
Nigel.

I feel sorry for the squaddies who now have to take a noisy old Herc to the 'Stan now...

This has been reported in another thread.. linked by HotCharlie :)

The Funbus has already enjoyed an extension on it's operational life many didn't expect so this sort of announcement was going to come sooner rather than later :)

Nigel,

You're not the only one!

As Chris says, and the Flight article eludes to, time will tell if the move is permanent.

I know I've mentioned this before and it can't happen but it is a shame the RAF can't allow some enthusiast pleasure flights to say goodbye, to raise funds for Service charities or similar. Would be a great way of raising funds but of course it's not what the RAF is in the business of so won't happen.

To be fair I'd be very surprised if the costs involved came close to the amount you'd raise for charity.

Due to shortages and cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.
