Dr. M. von Vogelhausen

Post by speedbird591 »

You know those customer reviews that you can write about stuff you've bought from Amazon? Do you ever read them?

Dr. von Vogelhausen has been quietly turning these reviews into an art form and some of them are very amusing.

For example. A Denby Tea Saucer earned this review:
Look at its clean, merciless lines. See how they curve. Feel its ticklish weight in your hand. Know then, and forever, that this is the saucer for you. And for us all. It is a saucer for our times, a piece of cool tablejoy that seems only to have stopped for a moment in your dining nook. What timeless genius is evidenced by the "double circle" design, and the shallow valley mockingly perfect as the resting place for your stirring-spoon. Look at it again, Jasper, look at it. Can you see it move? No, and therein lies its true, shadowy power. How long will it stay? It is not for me to conjecture. Even as I write this, it flickers in and out of reality like a circular god. Highly recommended.
Just the job for a good giggle on a wet weekend while the memsahib does the housework

Maybe not up everybody's street but if you're amused by ridiculous understated English humour (as I am) you can find a hundred of 'em here:

Well, what might amuse you even more, young Dave, is that it backfired on me very badly. I made her a bacon sandwich to give her the stamina for her chores, but before the grease had dried on her chin she got a phone call from a friend with a spare ticket to Bath rugby and she was gone! Next I hear from her is she wants a lift back from the station because she's had a few beers.

Which means that the housework now becomes my job next week. What the hell's gone wrong? Who's in charge around here?

They never had it so good mate.. they never had it so good  I've spent the first two hours of the shift in the kitchen being in the way so I've told her I'm going to stand in the garden. I'll make sure I'm out of her way come clean up time
