No more return to the moon
never give up, never surrender

Re: No more return to the moon
We can't get this planet right and the moon trip was a $9bn PR exercise. Good call canceling it.
Ben.

Re: No more return to the moon
A huge cost like this can't be justified with so many people in need.

You can't return if you never went in the first place!

Re: No more return to the moon
Ah, the old "they never went to the moon myth!" I saw a program that dubunked every one of those myths one by one.
As much as I would love to see space exploration continued, I have to reluctantly agree it just can't be justified at present. There are people starving, and bridges and roads crumbling in the US just to mention two reasons.

Re: No more return to the moon
Well I guess I have to explain to my son that any dream he had of going into space is now squashed.
Im not using it as a political platform --- but it doesnt surprise me - and the roads and bridges still wont get fixed and people will still starve.....
guess we should also dismantle the ISS before it falls on the greenies little pointed heads

Re: No more return to the moon
I think it's a shame to be honest. The Americans have spent colossal sums of money going there (or not, depending on who you want to believe) already and it's only a nation like the U.S. that could afford to go there anyway. The thought of man going to another planet still lights my fire after all these years and it's something that will probably stay with me. NASA could always go to Wales but there's probably less there than there is on the moon (though it'd be cheaper for them to go there)
I mean no offence to our Welsh readers.. it was the first place that sprung up so got committed to infinity

Re: No more return to the moon
Yes mate.... but the dream will have to wait a few years, and theres not much can be gleaned from the moon or they'd all have gone back before now

Re: No more return to the moon
the logic of returning to the moon was not a PR exercise - the fact that it has now been proven that there is water available made it the best hope for mass driver type engines to further exploration of the solar system and beyond.....I would say it was a little short sighted to kill the project and only done because in his first year in office the man and the democratic goverment has managed to turn a multi billion dollar deficit into a multi trillion dollar deficit. It will fall into the private sector to further space exploration - and although the likes a Branson and Rutan are taking very very small steps - at least some one is trying.

Oh yes while we are on the subject any one over there realise that in the first year of his office the current sitting US President has wracked up more air miles in AF1 than any president in the last 30 years did in their ENTIRE presidency......oh yes but we dont count that expenditure roaring around in a 30 year old Boeing air frame do we
