well as those before me have said, please please go to Brize or an airshow featuring one,
i swear, you don't even have to see the beast, but when you hear the drone of hte engines, an totally unmissable and unmistakenable drone to the ears, pure HEAVEN
it's a something you might regret not doing if you really love aviation!

Given the recent statements about VC10 pax operations, would one be wise to either attend airshows, or make a trip down to Oxfrodshire this year, before the chances of seeing one become greatly reduced?
Thankfully the pax issue isn't as limiting now as it originally was. It'll make families day and press/civvy toggy flying more difficult (ie nigh on impossible), but in the near future (18 months or so) I doubt it'll lead to any fewer VC10s flying about (other than those planned to disappear over time).
I've seen one flying from a distance (over Oxford itself IIRC) and I have been onboard A40-AB at Brooklands and G-ASGH at Duxford but never seen/heard one in action. Obviously I've seen videos and it sounds pretty distinctive.
I think one reason we're all on here, even people like myself who weren't around in the sixties is for the diversity of different types (as opposed to Boeing / Airbus families which most things you'll see these days are derived from) and the variety of British-built types (nowadays its an ARJ or nothing!)
I feel a trip to Oxon coming on. Dave, whats your pub called (and yes I know its not particularly close to Brize) ?
