Its not far from me, up the east coast of Scotland, near Stonehaven. Mel Gibson filmed much of his take on "Hamlet" at it many moons ago.
We went up after they stopped filming but before they had removed the set. It was a very interesting example of the set builders art. Much Plywood hung on scaffolding round it to increase the size of the castle battlements, but painted to amazing effect. Was clearly paint splashed onto the timber, but if you stood any further than 50 yards away it really did look like stone battlements, except it somehow didn't sound right if you lobbed a pebble at it
