Hunter problems

Post by Okami »

Hi all,

I've recently been trying to download Dave Garwood's Hunter for FS9, however, I seem to have hit some kind of problem. Whenever I try to run the installer, it stops almost immediately and returns following error message:
c:\users\(name)\appdata\local\temp\setup_33577\000#aircraft.cfg

File not found!

Correct the problem and run setup once again!
I've tried to run the setup several times, but the same fault seems to occur again and again. I've tried it both on my laptop, which runs on Vista, as well as on my desktop, which runs on Windows 7. I've tried it several times with all six of the Huntpak zips, and even went as far to try whether it gave any difference if I downloaded them from classicbritishfiles.com, Avsim.com or Flightsim.com. Nothing seems to work. I suspect the problem is with the Q-setup installer, as the same problem occurs with Dave's Dragon Rapide (also tried from the different sites), which also uses the Q-setup installer, but not with his Anson VC-cockpit, which uses a Clickteam installer.

Can anybody help? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

It looks as though you are trying to run the installer without extracting it from the zip file first. Sometimes this can cause problems. Download the file and save it. Then extract the file from the zip then run setup. :) Also, I'm assuming this is for FS9? as the FSX version doesn't use an installer.

Hi Ben,

That's one of the things I tried. I saved the entire zip to the computer and it didn't work; I unzipped the entire file to the computer and that didn't work either; after that I tried it by saving the installer to the computer and that didn't do a thing either. It's looking more and more like the Hunter will be missing from my flight hangar... :(

EDIT: No, wait a second - I finally managed to do it, but only after saving the installer to the computer, and then having it run under compatibility mode for XP SP3. It looks like it will not work at all when running under Vista or Windows 7.

Thanks! :)

This is an odd one Okami *-)

I'm not sure what platform DG is using now (Win7 I think) but I know that Ben is on Win7 64-bit. We'll get to the bottom of it ;)

Hi Okami,

yes, there is a problem with the installer I used for the Rapide & Hunters when used with Vista (not sure about 7 as I haven't tried the installers. I run W7-64 now BTW ;) )
Try right clicking the exe and selecting "run as admin"

Yup, I solved it now.

The trick I did was saving it, then clicking in "properties > compatibility settings" and setting it to "run in Windows XP Service Pack 3". As soon as I did that, there weren't any problems anymore.

Many thanks everybody! :)

There you are Okami-san

As I told you - Come here and ask , and the good folks would solve your problem in no time :) .

Glad your up and flying , and also very glad the problem wasn't a download issue.

(DaveG/B and Ben -- I sent Okami here after sending him ALL the hunt packs via "send big files" he had been trying to get the Hunters from several

sources to no avail -- I was going on the assumption that he was getting a corrupt download.

Alls well that ends well.
