Portsmouth Airport info
Despite now having the Airfield Guide book on Portsmouth, I am still lacking on info on the place in the 60s and 70s. I am sure there was a terminal alongside the Eastern Road where the JF Twinpins used to fly from. Can anybody else confirm this? I am itching to make a start on a scenery for it, just before it closed.

Re: Portsmouth Airport info
Looks like this one may be 'still-born'
then, unless I make it a 'fictional' re-creation. There is a great deal of info missing and virtually nothing on the net.

It's one I'd love to see, so I'll see what I can do, with a bit of researchcalypsos wrote:Looks like this one may be 'still-born'![]()

Trev..
I don't know if PeteP has anything on Portsmouth you might be able to use as he made a 'quickie' (runways only) for FS9. Problem with it is that any info has to be quite old as it's now an industrial estate (I believe) with no trace of the airfield itself. I've looked through my RAS book and it shows one very small phot of the boarding gates but there's no visible reference as to where on the airfield that might be

Not a bad shot that Dave. This is the same area dated as per Google Earth (2007?)..

Trev,
I made a start on this once many moons ago. I can email you what I collected in terms of research material.

Re: Portsmouth Airport info
Thanks Toby, I am after all I can get! This really is a case of 'digging up the dead' as far as airfields are concerned. I think I have most of what is on the net, another book (not the airfield guide) on the airfield was published, but it is now out of print and available for £45 instead of the cover price of £7.99!!!!

Re: Portsmouth Airport info
Book title? If it's "Portsmouth Airport" by Anthony Triggs - which I suspect it might be - I have a copy. Let me know what you're looking for in it and I'll let you know if it's there and worth you spending the money to get it.calypsos wrote: ...another book (not the airfield guide) on the airfield was published, but it is now out of print and available for £45 instead of the cover price of £7.99!!!!

Re: Portsmouth Airport info
Hi Pete, yes that's the chappy!
I am after info on the 'terminal' that popped up on the Eastern Road (in my living memory) which I think was the only 'commercially operational' part of the airfield for traffic after the late 60's. All I have is the 'Airfield Focus' which does not help too much but a photo kindly sent by Toby shows that I did not imagine it! It is a concrete pan and a pre-fab style 'Customs Hall' building. There was a car park and possibly a place for a fuel truck. The tower (which I am also after info on) remained in the older south side, I think, but it's all a bit vague for the period (60's/70's) that I want to re-build.
