I remember we had a copy of "Leaning on a lamppost" by George Formby.....it was my introduction to the Ukelele....Of course growing up in the late 50s and early 60s wth two older brothers access to 78s then 45s was magical. My first two favorites were "Red River Rock" shortly followed by the first 45 I ever heard
which was Duane Eddies "Forty miles of bad road".
My first real memory of "rock and roll" as apposed to "Skiffle" was riding down the road sitting on the handles bars of my older brother James bike singing
Summer time blues at the top of our lungs....That would have been ummmm 1961ish I believe.

Ah, the Tottenham Sound - thanks for posting Derek and no need to hide! :tunes:

There was a rivalry between the DC5 and The Beatles (add The Searchers as well), at least in the minds of the press in the US. Now all these years later, The DC5 and The Searchers are probably unknown to the younger set. They all know The Beatles, however.

I think that was prevalent with the press here too if memory serves me right (don't hold too much on that!). Nice vid.. I enjoyed that ;)
