A Drive from London to Bath 1963

Post by Nigel H-J »

Attitudes and driving habits haven't changed much since then but what memories it brought back of travelling sixties style.

Nigel number 1 - thanks for posting that. I found it very entertaining. Reminded me of how narrow the roads can be in the UK (remember, everything is bigger in America ;) ) I must confess, last time I drove in the UK (From London to North Wales) I did not do a lot of overtaking - too busy thinking "stay on the left, go clockwise around those roundabouts." I remembered the Belisha beacons, but all those sqiugly lines on the road had me puzzled for a while - don't remember those when I was growing up, but I was too young to drive then. Traffic lights in the UK are a little different also. We don't have the red and amber lights before green because the imaptient colonists would all start before the green light appeared.

They do here!! :worried:

Pleased you liked it though have to say as an advanced driver myself I did not agree with his standard of advanced driving.....far too close to that bus when it stopped to turn right, had it stalled or broke down he could not manoevre around it!! A number of other issues but not going to waste my time typing it all out. ;) Just really nice to see all the old favourites out on the road.
