It sounds like a memory issue, maybe you have something running in the background that is eating into the memory? Or how about the paging file, you could always manually control it, there are various articles in the internet on how big it should be and what HD to put it on.
You could also download a free ram cleaner

I've got my "H" drive (250GB) with the paging file and it's been resident on there for quite some time without problem and is quite substantial as well. I have downloaded and will run the RAM software you suggested and see what happens.

Okay, I think I've localized the problem and it is apparently texture related. I finally got a "long" flight in where I was able to 10,000+ feet and fly in several directions. I am now going to move to the process of determining what texture has been corrupted because it is common to Hawaii, Michigan, and central England at this time of year.

That sounds positive Chris, maybe it would be worth checking any recent add-ons that may be the cuase.

See, that's the thing, the only recent addons were a new version of FSAirlines (rolled back) and ActiveSky (rolled back), so any changes they might have made have been removed, but still I had the problem.

I dunno... I'll just play with it some more and see what I find.

you have a corrupt file, a misplaced file or a duplicate one or the other . whichever or how ever

like you said ... the sim crashes around 5k so, maybe somethings up there is not being seen (read) properly,

try installing the default textures for clouds maybe , or some freeware ones ,
sun textures too ? anything to over write what you have installed - anything.
but watch the texture size

anyways , thats what Id be concentrating on.

Hi Chris

Sounds like an AFCAD problem or a missing texture for weather or scenery to me

FS9 i guess ?

Regards
Rick

Well, it's not AFCAD. I've done several sweeps to check for that. In addition, I deactivated all of the scenery around Hawaii and was still having the crash.

I will try re-installing the cloud textures, but I'm not sure it's the problem since I was able to fly out of Dallas yesterday with full weather on and the weather (clouds-wise) was the same as when I was flying at the other airports and the problem was occuring whether or not I was using real-world weather (so it couldn't have been the default cloud textures).

Just a thought Chris...20 th March is first day of Spring in FS 9.1...That means a change of textures...Try setting it back to Winter and see if that fixes it...If it does then you will be looking for a rogue texture that hoves into view as you reach 500 feet.

Just a thought :)
