It's only a problem for dogs. Daisy and Rosie, my Basset bitches both squat like frogs, sometimes synchronised.

My male pup (10 months old English Springer Spaniel) has always squatted to pee but just the other day while out on a walk with my wife he tried to cock his leg for the first time and almost fell over mid-pee! According to my wife she almost fell over too.......from laughing so hard. Poor little tyke, trying to pee like a grown up and he gets laughed at! :-O

I think I've read that for male canines the stand and cock a leg versus squatting is due mainly due to age and if they have made that trip to to the Vet. My hound Harry always adopted a hint of squat as he had been done.
