Strewth.. they didn't waste any time getting 109 on jacks did they!
Would've been nice to have kept one there in running order.. to go with the MR2 they're getting and the Victor they already have!

St. Athans probably too expensive and being wound down anyway. They probably don't need as many parts of these to keep the remaining ones flying either.

How sad.
I really must get my arse to Brize sooner rather than later to see the old girls before its too late.

I believe the contract is with the same people that did the St Athan disposals (IIRC, Jelle posted the link to the company's press release on another forum). However, maybe the forthcoming development of St Athan as part of DCAE or whatever it's called has something to do with it, and there's tonnes more space at Brunters. As for a runner, there's potentially another 12 to be disposed of at Bruntingthorpe, so maybe it'll happen when spares aren't in so much demand and as valuable.DaveB wrote:Strewth.. they didn't waste any time getting 109 on jacks did they!Would've been nice to have kept one there in running order.. to go with the MR2 they're getting and the Victor they already have!
Personally the more that end up on display the better - there are at least three or four places off the top of my head in the UK that could maybe find the space and afford one. There was the nasty rumour as well that one of those locations, which already has a VC10, may be losing it sometime soon due to deterioration of the airframe, but I don't know how true that is.
