Re: British United VC 10
Yup.. nice bit of film that. The dvd is equally good.. only much longer
That reminds me.. Ben was looking at the Corgi VC10 and I thought when looking at the shots, it's inner wing fences didn't look very pronounced.. if there at all. That clip shows them to be rather more noticeable

Re: British United VC 10
British United is the classic Standard VC10 livery in my opinion and is shown off beautifully in this old film.

I like that livery too mate.. whatever it sits on
The funky 70's yellow/pale blue was ok (in an odd sort of way) but certainly, the earlier version shown in that clip is my fave BUA

Re: British United VC 10
It is quite nice, but the best livery on a standard has to be 1964 BOAC (as per the original G-ARTA livery) on a 1103, its XX914 every time

Re: British United VC 10
Indeed Ben
That early striped tail BOAC was a beauty
One thing about that BUA livery is it does not photgraph well
In real life it was very, very smart

That's great footage. And I love the calm and orderly way everyone leaves the aeroplane at the end.

Re: British United VC 10
That's absolutely true - indeed it's hard to know what the exact colours were owing to image degradation, etc.Garry Russell wrote:

It's arguable as to whether the upswept stripes work on every aircraft, but I always thought that livery worked especially well on the Herald.
