Slides-Airshow Images But....

Post by Tomliner »

...Not only aircraft.Airshows provide plenty of scope for photos, not only the aircraft but crews, spectators etc.Hope you like these. This is a larger batch than usual and will probably be followed by a similar one in the next day or two. They were taken between 1975 and 1981 at various locations including Mildenhall,Finningley and ,yes I think you were correct Neil,Waddington. Here goes.

I know they are a bit of a mish-mash but I wasn't sure how best to assemble them.Any feedback, good or bad, would be appreciated. As I said at the beginning, there will be another similar batch very soon. ATB EricT

They caught the feel of an air show anywhere in the world ---- always amazes me how USAF pilots all look the same

I was a bit concerned for some reason that these wouldn't be received very well. From a personal point of view, these are some of my favourites because of the atmosphere.I'll post a few more similar ones later.ATB EricT :)

They are all great. That 2nd to last one threw me though because at first I couldn't figure out what they were sitting on and then I couldn't figure out how you got that shot because of the odd angle of the tail behind them and the lack of the fuselage and tail of the aircraft they were sitting on. Then I just decided I wouldn't try to figure it out....

Also, it's bittersweet to see pictures of the A-26 as it was sadly lost while performing at Biggin Hill in 1980, killing the pilot (Don Bullock) and 7 passengers. It was this accident that led to the "Essential Air Crew Only" rules that were put in place by the British CAA and the US FAA after Mr. Bullock attempted to roll the A-26 at low level during the airshow and subsequently impacted the terrain on the airfield when he was unable to recover from the maneuver.

How the hell did I miss these?

The "wet ones" rmind me of one year at Finn when the heavens opened.

Took hours to get off the airfield.

Keep 'em coming Eric.
