Thanks Rick - Another great British invention flies again

Post by John »

Rick has very kindly let me have a play with his old SRN4 model (mainly AI, but a real thing of beauty) to see what screenshots I could get. First things first thanks very much too him for that. He's also said that it'd be ok to post some here, which is very good of him as it's an 'unreleased' model.

So I've done some very quick shots just to get the feel of the model. Comments as always are very welcome. They'll be more to follow as I get the hang of her.

Kind regards as always

John

It's a great looking piece of work from Rick, if you've got any locations you can suggest for some shots, suggest away ;)

Locations, locations  Truth to tell, I can't actually remember if I ever saw one in the flesh. Time can be a good healer for things you want to forget but sadly, it works the same for things you want to remember too

Is that in FS9 John or an updated version in FSX?? Difficult to tell as the shots are so bloody good. I had an FS9 version but I remember there being a prop issue in X. Never known if the problem was resolved but I know Rick was asking if any of us had the FSX version a week or so ago

Dave

That's in FS9 with a filter over the water (in photoshop) to deliver the reflections, one day I'll upgrade to FSX and now people like Trev are making such great scenery for 'my area' I'd be silly not to.

Kind regards

I don't know if it was the same model/variant but I remember seeing a hovercraft ferry when I was a young lad of about 10 years old. It was based in Fleetwood, Lancashire and I presume it ran to either the Isle of Man or NI.

I think I'm right in saying that the SRN4's only ran between Dover - Boulogne and latterly Ramsgate - Calais? If anyone knows of any scenery for any of these ports let me know. As for Fleetwood the port seemed to operate the Denny sidewall hovercraft (something I've never heard of I must admit).

I've got some Lee-on-Solent scenery (where they were taken to after coming out of service) and 'World of Wight' (containing Cowes) which I think is where some maintenance might have been undertaken,

Kind regards

Those are amazing shots. Wish I could do edits that good (or even do half that good).

Now if someone would just do an SRN4 for Ship Simulator....

Funny, we were just talking about this the other day. Stunning shots as usual John

I have her on a couple of AI routes, Dover - Boulogne and Calais - Ramsgate. Had a cople of funnies with her as AI though, I'll need to go and see if I can resolve them now  Thanks for the pics :welldone:
