Just been thinking, could it be you have anotehr addon running as part of FSX. I know that when I launch FSX traffic toolbox the first part of the name in task manager is FSX too, so it looks like FSX is running twice. Is there any way you could post a screen shot of your task manager list?

Ben, I think Gary is referring to FS9.

From my own experience, when running FS9 in Win XP, I have had occasional problems when shutting down FS9 and trying to re-start it. Win XP occasionally states that 'FS9 is already running'. The only way I've found around this, is to re-start Windows.
I've not encountered this problem with Win 7 (64bit).

Sorry, if this is of little help.

Hi Kevin,

I know he's on FS9, but there I thought I remember a "traffictoolbox" style addon in FS9 too, so thinking it may be a similar thing ;)

Not sad mate.. you know where your priorities are!

Glad you're sorted (though I'd have been interested to learn what it was causing it)
