A new visitor on the Tyne

Post by TSR2 »

HMS Dauntless puts in an appearance this weekend to her adoptive home, Newcastle Upon Tyne. She is due to be commisioned on 10th June. Looks quite sophisticated... apart from the bridge, which looks as it could have been taken from any ship of the past 50 years

That is until you get on board. I've been on her sister HMS Daring maybe 3 times? and the difference in the bridge between her and say a Type 23 or indeed a carrier like HMS Ark Royal is staggering. Indeed as is the amount of space in most areas of the ship.

Kind regards

John

While there's no doubting the technical excellence and fighting capability of these new ships over their forebears, I think they're about as aesthetically pleasing as a box :worried: Good that new ships are still being built though ;)

WOW! No windows for the sightseeing swabs to stare out of either.

It looks rather like the Flower Class Corvette that I tried to carve from wood... I gave up when it got to that shape... ;)

Thats an odd looking radar array on the aft above the hanger. Does anyone know if it rotates?

How long before she is sold at a knock down price to a Third World country? The Daily Mail today has a scary report.
