You'd think so but I had to explain the voting process to a relative who has only voted once (when she was 18) and hasn't voted in the three elections since. I did tear a strip off her for not voting, reminding her of the Suffragettes and the thousands who died in the last war to enable us to continue to vote, my view being even if you can't find a party to support there are usually enough looney tune fringe parties to vote for in protest, or even you could spoil your ballot paper in protest, but you should still make the effort, but the point was I had to explain the process. I suspect there are many thousands out there who haven't bothered to vote recently if ever (last general election it was less than 70% turn-out) who might be tempted to go this time, so a "how to boil water" course in voting is probably just what they need.

Sad, but there we go, millions around the world would (and are) die(ing) to vote, we p*** the opportunity up the wall.

I heard a rumor that someone down in Englandshire had changed his name by deedpole to "None of the above" and standing for election.

My thoughts on voting are simple

Vote if you want to..but if you don't vote then I feel you have no right to complain about who's running the show.

The BBC have made a serious omission here.They didn't show how to get of bed first and get dressed.Then again maybe that would be just too much for the numpties to take in! EricT

Absolutely, Mark. Couldn't decide which of the three main parties was the least useless this time round, but I felt the obligation, so I voted for one of the minor candidates. As you rightly say, a lot of people have given their lives gaining and then defending our democracy.

On this election day, a big to all who still defend it.
