Clapton and Winwwood! Must have been a great concert. What a nice, thoughtful present that was.

My daughter, who at 33 is a bit older than yours , brought me tickets to "Rain" a Beatles tribute band. I am looking forward to seeing them at Wolf Trap in June. I did see the originals at what was their next to last concert in August 1965 so I suppose "Rain" will be a little anticlimatic. I think I will still thoroughly enjoy it though.

Yes indeed mate. As it happens.. the pair of them together is a bit before my 'area of interest' but.. I like them both and there was enough there to keep me happy I have a son (from a previous incursion into married life) who's not that far behind your daughter but sadly, that relationship pretty much buried in acrimony twix me and the ex-swmbo. Needless to say, there's no cursory 'nod' of recognition from either camp though both he and Helen communicate via MSN (or whatever it is that's 'in' these days) and I don't have a problem with that Blimey.. that nearly de-railed didn't it

I've not come across 'Rain' but I'll seek them out on YouTube. Many of these 'tribute' bands are close enough to the originals to be as good as and if you heard them without seeing them, you'd be hard pushed to tell they weren't the originals a few years down the line! You must let us know what you thought when the time comes You may be pleasantly surprised

Hi Dave,

Next time you are down at Brooklands, I'd be happy to pick you up and give you a tour of Clapton country. The house he was born and raised in, just down the lane from ours. The schools he attended. The bus shelter where he sat for hours playing the guitar. The church where his relatives and mine have been laid to rest.

He's often to be seen in the village, because he certainly hasn't forgotten his roots. He's actually very well thought of by the locals, and is a great supporter of village life. Especially the cricket club bar!

I expect you've read his book? It's nothing like that. It's worse! Only kidding.

Cheers me dears.. I may take you up on that one day As for the book.. I'm sure it's kicking around here somewhere but I've not read it (it wasn't bought for me). About the only things I read these days are here and flight manuals.. not too boring

Lots of clips of "Rain" on YouTube with varying sound quality. Rain is composed entirely of Colonists and in checking YouTube there is a group of Liverpudlians called "The Cavern Beatles" that looked very good. One plus with Rain thanks to modern technology is they can perform a lot of Beatles songs that The Beatles never did perform live.
