3 monitors, 2 Video cards

Post by timholyoake »

hi all knowing people,

I am running windows 7 and have FS X installed. I am using 2 Nvidia 6800 GTX+ cards and have 2 monitors plugged into one card and 1 into the other. I want to run 3 separate views. 1 VC Port side, 1VC starboard side, and the centre VC mid with controls and dials. but when I do this I get 1 and sometimes 2 monitors showing the views in LOW res (about 1024) whwere as I want all 3 in hi res.

Question:-

Is this possible, and How?

Thanks folks.

You have to set up each monitors display resolution (and depth) individually in FSX.
When you go to the settings screen next to the name of the monitor there should be a little pull down arrow thing, click on that and it should let you select the other monitors, you can then set them up for whatever resolution you want.
One thing that might be worth checking, I found on my motherboard that if you plug in 2 PCI-E graphics cards it effectively halves the bus speed so you may be no better off than if you only use one. Although in your case you've got an extra monitor so you may feel it's worth it, especially if you're getting decent FPS.

Also ensure that you have de-selected FULL SCREEN in the View menu. To move windows to the other monitors you will need to right-click them and UNDOCK them; you'll then be able to drag them to the other monitors.
