Re: "Shackleton Project"
There were people from here involved with the project
I'm not sure what you mean by pro textures as it was textured the same as anything else......payware or freeware makes no difference to us.
I have no idea how well they work in FS
but they are a bit dated by todays standard although I must stress top of the range at the time they were done.

Hi Sam
Yes.. Pro textures. These (unfortunately) were not GerryF's finest hour
As Garry said, the team responsible for the Shack were mainly from here.. main exception was the model itself done by James Eden and the team leader who is from SA. The visual model was always a bit 'suspect' for many.. not due to the modellers skill but more for the fact the 3-views he used were not as accurate as they might have been.
It does work in FSX though you may not get full functionality. In it's day, it was a good model and still is probably the best Shackleton made for flightsim. If the asking price is still the same, it's a bit pricey when compared to what you can buy these days.. especially as your intended use is for FSX. The aim of the project was to keep the last flying MR3 in the air and as the aircraft has since been grounded.. that bit of your purchase is null and void.
I can't bring myself to 'not' recommend it but it's an old model built for an old sim. You'll have to decide if you want one bad enough to pay for it with the knowledge that what you're buying is not cutting edge.

Hello Mate..
Yes.. I'm a bit lost too. I don't ever remember them being called 'Pro Textures'
I've just had a look at a couple of the RAF paints and they're 16-bit DXT3.. not quite 'Pro' in my book but there you go

Re: "Shackleton Project"
There seems to be a lot of comment on "pro" textures.
Thinking outside the box the original post probably means PROP textures as these are the most likely to cause probs in a port over to FSX. If his keyboard is anything like mine he probably does mean prop.

Re: "Shackleton Project"
That's a good point Steve. Reading it again, it could well be 'Prop' textures
I've just had a quick look and while they're not to 'FSX' spec.. they don't look too bad. I'll have a look again a bit later when I have more time (someones Gammon steak is burning under the grill)

Re: "Shackleton Project"
Just had a quick flight (I bet there aren't many Shackletons that have taken off out of Lands End!) and notice the props suffer the same as all other FS9 models in that they disappear behind 3D objects on occasion. Not bad though.. the prop blur is quite acceptable (not almost solid as some are) and the model flies quite well. I couldn't get the radar to drop but to be honest, I couldn't remember what the assignement is (might be Concorde nose/visor down)
The sounds are still as good as they ever were but the VC looks very dated now. Shame cause it looked the doggies when it came out. Can't vouch for how many of the gauges work in FSX. The main ones do but I know the Shack has a complex tank system.

Woopsy! yes it was my keyboad, good bit of detective work!
I asked about the Pro textures [prop textures] as I have a freeware shack and the props are pretty bad witch is a sham as I like it otherwise.. makes me want to reinstall fs9!
Tempted to get it.. going to sleep on it..
